Chapters 54 and 55 Summary

The van drives them to the hangar. They run into several cars driving in circles. Lawrence doesn't slow the van down, but instead guns the van faster to make its way through a gap in the group of cars. One of the cars crashes into the van and it spins in circles. After the van hits the cement barricade, the three cars drive away.

When Thomas looks out the window, he sees Newt staring back at him. Newt looks horrible. Thomas points his gun at Lawrence to get Lawrence to stop the van and allow Thomas out of the van. Lawrence tries to reason with Thomas, telling him that Newt is nothing more than an animal now. Thomas emerges from the van anyway. When Thomas talks to Newt, Thomas sees the madness in Newt's eyes turn to clarity. Newt recognizes Thomas...
