The Death Cure is the third and final installation of James Dashner’s The Maze Runner Series. This young adult science fiction series is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which an organization called WICKED oversees experiments aimed at ending a virus called the Flare. In The Death Cure, protagonist Thomas and his fellow Gladers attempt to end WICKED for good. Dashner’s dystopian novel explores themes of teamwork, competition, betrayal, and relationships.
