Six months later, the kids from the home are waiting on the ground while Jake takes them up in the plane for rides. Lisa and Jimmy have been adopted by Jake and Lynda. Nick and Beth are married.

The wrongs in the novel have been righted. The children's home is now being run in an ethical and religious manner. Lisa and Jimmy now know what's it's like to have a real family. Beth has also found out what it's like to love someone and be loved for the first time in her life.
