Chapters 17 and 18 Summary

Nick is inspecting the children's home with Bill. When Nick asks if all of the children are here, Bill says there are some at the library and some at swimming lessons. Stella pulls Bill aside and tells him about Jimmy's call. Bill goes to his office and checks the Caller I.D. in his closet and sees Jimmy called from Beth's house. Bill finds Lisa and tells her he needs to train her to take Jimmy's place saying that Jimmy is probably never coming back.

Bill rigs a cigar box as a bomb and wraps it like a package. He plans to overnight it to Beth's house and use Lisa to drop it in the slot at the post office. When Nick stops Bill from driving away with the girl, Bill gets Stella to drive her instead.
