Chapters 27 and 28 Summary

Phil agrees to print the story. Beth convinces him she has to take the story to cops tonight even though the story might break before they print it. Phil agrees. Beth catches the two detectives Nick sent to her house. She gives them the story and tells them where Jimmy is. They agree to get a warrant from the presiding judge in town and follow her to Lynda and Jake's house.

Nick hands Tracy over to the emergency room doctors and nurses. The doctor tells him Tracy doesn't have any drugs in her bloodstream. She has a bad case of double pneumonia. The doctor says if Nick hadn't brought her in when he did, Tracy probably would have died in the night. Nick checks his messages and receives one from Beth saying the paper is printing her story and she's taking...
