Chapters 19 and 20 Summary

Beth finishes her story and sends it to her editor, Phil. He calls to say that he wants more quotes for the story than from a juvenile delinquent and a dead woman—Jimmy and Marlene. Beth asks if she gets him two more quotes if he promises to print the story in Saturday's edition. Phil promises. Beth thinks that in order to get what Phil wants that she's going to have to open doors she doesn't want to open. She calls her attorney and asks her to come to the house to meet with her.

Stella drives Lisa to the post office. While Lisa is trying to put the heavy box into the regular mail slot, the postman directs her to the slot for Express Mail. When the box doesn't fit, the postman takes it in the back for Lisa...
