Chapters 37 and 38 Summary

When Nick hears about the building fire, he tries to reach Beth. When he can't, he finds her at the crime scene. She tells him they found kids' footprints and fingerprints where they entered and left the building. She says the two detectives are on their way to get a warrant to arrest Bill because they couldn't get one the night before. Nick follows Beth home so she can get a copy of the article so they can get it printed. The mail truck pulls in just as they are about to leave. Beth starts to open the package when she sees it's from Marlene. As the bomb explodes, Beth thinks that Bill will win and she'll never get to tell her story.
