Chapter 44 Summary

Romanovich praises Odd's ability to extract information from Jacob. Odd knows the key is with Jacob and his father. Mother Superior approaches, scattering bodachs. Odd asks her the name of Jacob's father, she says it is unknown. Odd reminds her that they have to find a child like Justine, but who can speak. Flossie Bodenblatt, had been through it all, but is a child of spirit and has regained the ability to speak. She had been brought back to her room for Odd.

Chapter 44 Analysis

After leaving Jacob, Odd and Rodion run into Sister Angela. Odd asks her about Jacob's father, but she tells him there is nothing in the file. Odd is under the impression that Rodion knows more than he is telling, and when he voices his opinion on that subject, Rodion doesn't disagree. In fact, Odd openly discusses his distrust...
