Chapter 41 Summary

Odd asks Sister Angela about Justine and the circumstances surrounding her death. Specifically, he wants to know if Justine had actually been dead for a small period of time when her father tried to drown her, but been revived. The fact about Justine's past confirmed what Odd had already suspected because it is the only way that he could make sense of the fact that Justine had been a bridge between Stormy and him. Odd then asks Mother Superior if there are any other children who had been clinically dead and then revived. Sister Miriam and Sister Angela confirm that a few other children, and Odd to talk to them. What he wants is a child like Justine, who was clinically dead, but revived again and retains the ability to speak.
