Chapter 14 Summary

Odd starts toward the school again and the keening stops, but he senses movement. Then something crosses his path, ten feet ahead. Moving with a grace that doesn't seem possible, it appears to be a construct of bones with an icy covering. Odd hurries forward, noting the prints the creature makes as he passes them. As soon as he is inside, he hears scraping on the far side of the door.

Chapter 14 Analysis

Odd isn't as easily rattled as most people are, mostly because he's been around and helped dead people for some time. He stands out in the snow, taking his hood down and listening for the source of the noise. He sees a shape moving in the distance, but can't make out what it is. He has a feeling that there is some form of intelligence involved, and whatever it is, it has its own locomotion....
