Chapter 24 Summary

The "Matron" at Thurgood's is worried about Bill Roach. He is sick again. They don't realize his illness is caused by terror. Bill had seen Jim unpack a gun and load it.

Chapter 24 Analysis

Roach is terrified because of what he did. He spied on Jim and watched him dig up a package. Instead of going on his way, the boy peeked through the trailer window and saw Jim unpackage a gun and load it. The boy is terrified by what he saw, so terrified that he is now sick from the fear. He doesn't know of Jim's past career.
