Chapter 22 Summary

Guilliam and Smiley go see Tarr, who he didn't tell them the whole truth. Smiley says that he thinks they have been admitted to the inner circle by Karla. They ask Tarr if has talked of meeting with his family. Smiley gets Tarr to admit he bought his family passports that were already blown, but Smiley believes something different happened and gives the scenario. Tarr's reaction demonstrates that Smiley is correct. Smiley reassures Tarr that he does not know where Tarr's family is hiding. After leaving Tarr, Guillima tells Smiley he read a report that likely means Irina, Ivlov and Boris were executed. They will not tell Tarr.
