Essay Topics

Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

Henderson often focuses extensively on the theory of Evolution. Write an essay that includes a short history of Evolution, including its origins, what it teaches, and some evidences scientists use to support the theory. In your essay, also include Henderson's arguments against Evolution. Can the two theories (Evolution and Flying Spaghetti Monsterism) ever be reconciled? If the FSM created Evolution, can it still be considered a possible theory?

Essay Topic 2

Henderson reiterates the importance of Pirates in numerous places throughout The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Write an essay discussing the importance of that group of people to Flying Spaghetti Monsterism. Topics that should be covered include the significance of Pirates to the church as a whole, their effect on global weather, and the differences between FSM Pirates and contemporary pirates.

Essay Topic 3

Write an essay explaining parody as a literary genre. Explain the genre and its characteristics, being sure to include examples of famous parodies and explaining how and why The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster qualifies as a parody. Be sure to include detains from Henderson's book and explain what they are parodying. Support any and all assertions with quotes or examples from the book.
