Essay Topic 1
In several sections of The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Henderson deals with the theory of natural selection. Write an essay describing the process of natural selection and citing scientifically accepted evidence to support that theory. How does Henderson explain natural selection? What are some examples Henderson cites to support his explanation? What are the differences and similarities between Henderson's explanation and the scientific explanation of the process?
Essay Topic 2
Henderson wrote The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster largely in response to the debate about the theory of Intelligent Design and its place in America's classrooms. Write an essay summarizing the discussion over Evolution, Intelligent Design, and, most recently, Flying Spaghetti Monsterism and their places in schools' curricula. Hint: A good starting place is the State of Tennessee vs. John Scopes trial, commonly referred to as the "Scopes Monkey Trial."
