Essay Topics

Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

Write an essay explaining parody as a literary genre. Explain the genre and its characteristics, being sure to include examples of famous parodies and explaining how and why The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster qualifies as a parody. Be sure to include detains from Henderson's book and explain what they are parodying. Support any and all assertions with quotes or examples from the book.

In an essay, analyze the debate about the inclusion of alternate theories in school curricula. Include the positions of at least three groups; Evolutionists, Intelligent Design proponents, and Pastarians. Include each groups' major arguments, proofs, and evidence for their stances.

Essay Topic 3

Choose one individual that appears in Henderson's "A History of Heretics" section. Write an essay explaining the life and teachings of that individual, and the role that person plays in history. After establishing the individual's history and historical significance, explain what about their life or teachings makes them heretical to the Pastafarian church.
