Chapter 21 Summary

Shan wakes up from being unconscious and doesn't know what's going on. He remembers when he sees the charred bodies of Crepsley and Steve Leopard. He asks his companions how long he had been out. Vancha tells Shan he had been out for about three hours. Vancha and Harkat start to make plans to recover Crepsley's body so they can bury him, but Shan tells them it doesn't matter. He tells them Steve's secret is that they used a decoy to act as the Lord of Vampaneze, so the person they killed hadn't been the real Lord. Shan says Steve has revealed who the real Lord of the Vampaneze is—and it's Steve.
