Chapter 4 Summary

When Shan lands from his jump out the window, he almost impales himself on his sword. Crepsley hurts his ankle when he jumps. The soldiers and cops are taken by surprise and scramble over each other to react to the jumpers. Harkat takes one of the soldiers or cops as a hostage while Vancha goes after Burgess. The Vampires decide Crepsley's ankle is too bad to flit, which is to run away very quickly, so they decide to leave Crepsley behind. Vancha decides to escape with Burgess as his hostage. The rest agree to surrender to the police and escape from prison, or die trying, and meet up with Vancha later to kill the Lord Vampaneze.
