Chapter 9 Summary

Shan, Crepsley and Harkat start to run from the mob, but Crepsley's hurt ankle is holding them back. Crepsley says for them to leave him behind but Shan says they all have to stay together. As the mob closes in on them, the three scramble up a ladder that leads to a fire escape. While on top of the building, a police helicopter closes in and starts shooting at them. They decide to enter the building, and get the residents to evacuate. As the residents of the building are trying to get out, the mob and the police are trying to get in, which causes enough of a delay for the Vampires to escape to another building and hide. They sneak out of the building and into the deserted alley. Shan realizes that his friend Richard's house is close by so they decide...
