Chapter 41 Summary

Hodges's mother receives a flag and a gold medal, which she places in the locker he prepared before his departure to Vietnam. She can't bring herself to reopen the locker after she places the items inside.

Mitsuko has a baby boy, which belongs to Hodges. It is too bad he never got to know his own child. It's seven years later and she has married and had two more children after Hitoshi.
