Summary

In Chapter 16, Blue and Cricket listen to the HiveWings eat some animal while discussing being under Queen Wasp's control. One says the queen “never lets us (eat) while she's in control” (133). They hate that they are searching for the flamesilk, saying he has probably already fallen down a hole and died. They look into the crevasse but cannot see into the cave where Blue and Cricket are hiding. They wish Blue would tell them he is dead so they could go home. Blue naps, feeling safe next to Cricket. They leave at dark with Blue and Cricket walking while Swordtail “scouts” the area from the air. Cricket says she wanted to examine the comet that passed over a few months earlier, but Lady Scarab has the only telescope in the Cicada Hive. Blue remembers meeting her in the candy store.
