Summary

In Chapter 6, a young SilkWing is horrified when the HiveWing dragonet she is holding has solid white “fathomless” eyes. An older SilkWing tells her to let the dragonet go, saying “They're not themselves right now” (62). Some located Io and Blue. Io fights their way through until they reach the open sky. Blue cannot leave without her, partly because he cannot fly but also because he feels he cannot leave her. She takes the decision out of his hands, using her silk to loop over the roof and “hurl” him upward. He is trying to figure out what to do next when he hears a “pssst” summoning him to a shed.
