Summary

In Chapter 18, Scarlet says Ruby never existed. After Chameleon changed Ruby into Tourmaline, Scarlet announced that Ruby was her daughter and everyone accepted it. Ruby, who now appears as Tourmaline, still has questions but Peril says she should kill Scarlet and then address them. The dragons watching have questions as well but many are glad to see anyone defeating Scarlet. Cliff wants his mother and begins to cry. Chameleon and Peril briefly discuss that dragons can apparently overcome his enchantments. He reveals that he crafted the enchantment for Peril before they met. Tourmaline is clearly winning the fight. When Scarlet falls, Tourmaline breaks her neck. Dragons begin shouting “Long live Queen Ruby” (182). Chameleon says the dragons have not realized Tourmaline's real identity. Peril counters, saying they know her as Ruby. Peril says that Tourmaline has Ruby's memories, and asks what else is necessary...
