Chapter 16 Summary

After burying the slain family, Larkin changes to a dragon once more, and this time Blair falls asleep on his back. She has been without sleep for two days and is exhausted. The sound of a roar awakens her and she finds that they are flying over Faerie Falls, the place Larkin promised to take her for a picnic. He apologizes that it is not a picnic, but he merely wants some time alone with Blair in a place where death and the threat of a vampire invasion cannot encroach. Larkin thanks Blair for being who she is and for helping him with the distasteful chore of grave digging. He tells her that no other woman aside from his cousin, Moira, would have done that for him. Now Blair is positive that she is in love with Larkin.
