Eva Tramell

Eva Tramell is the main character of the novel. She has just graduated from college and is starting her first job as an assistant to a junior account manager. Eva's parents were never married because her mother got pregnant out of wedlock. Her father is a police officer. Her mother is remarried to a wealthy man that is Eva's step-father.

Eva is a victim of sexual abuse. When she was ten years old, her step-brother, Nathan, starts raping her. when Eva is fourteen years old, her mother finds out about the rape because Eva is bleeding from a miscarriage. The emergency room staff tells Eva and her mother that Eva has trauma in her vagina and anus from the rapes.

Eva is a very jealous person. when she starts to see Gideon on a romantic basis, she warns Gideon of her jealous tendencies. Because of the trauma...
