Chapter 7 Summary

The tension is so intense by the time they arrive at the benefit that Eva parts from Gideon as soon as they get inside. She finds her parents and Cary. Gideon ends up coming over to the group looking for Eva, but encourages Eva not to make a scene when Eva tries to lash out at Gideon. Gideon stands up to give a speech about sexually abused children. Eva is so moved by his speech for she starts a standing ovation at the end.

People surround Gideon to talk with him at the end of his speech. Gideon's half-brother, Christopher Vidal, introduces himself to Eva and asks her to dance. While they are dancing, Christopher asks if she is single and then hints that he's interested in her when she says that she is not taken. Eva dances with Cary next and then...
