Chapter 3 Summary

Cary and Eva arrive at Parker Smith's studio to take the Krav Maga class. Cary insists that there is no way Eva's parents will allow her to come to the bad area of town a few times a week. She says her parents won't find out because she isn't telling them. Her mom will think she wants to take the class for protection over what happened to her rather than for stress relief. After watching the class, Eva registers for it.

Her step-father, Richard Stanton, calls her the next day at work. He says he's sending a car to pick her up for lunch. Mark tells her to take two hours for lunch since she's been working so hard. When she arrives at Stanton's office, he has a catered lunch for two waiting. He tells Eva that her mother is upset about her...
