The tension is so intense by the time they arrive at the benefit that Eva parts from Gideon as soon as they get inside. She finds her parents and Cary. Gideon ends up coming over to the group looking for Eva, but encourages Eva not to make a scene when Eva tries to lash out at Gideon. Gideon stands up to give a speech about sexually abused children.
