Summary

In Chapter 6, Gwen and the girls from the tavern enter the inn. It is in shambles. There are holes in the roof. Only two walls are solid. They attempt to light the fireplace, but it is blocked and smoke fills the room. Gwen thinks back to her first day at the tavern. She thought she was being hired as a barmaid. When she found out barmaid meant prostitute she tried to leave and Grue beat her. He kept an eye on her after that. When he got careless, she ran leaving her coins under the floorboards in her room. She wondered the city looking for work, handouts or help, but found only indifference and hatred. She was even turned away by other brothels.
