Summary

Part Three is titled The Lost City of Night. In Chapter 16, Turtle decides to follow alone. He realizes he misses Peril and thinks about their adventure together. He felt “safer and more fun” on that quest, and is not certain whether that is because of Peril's firescales or “because his magic had still been a secret from everyone back then” (172). Turtle imagines that Darkstalker would feel as if he was here just a short time ago. He feels he is being watched. Darkstalker leads the way into a ruined city, then into the school with relics of the classes and students. Turtle realizes Darkstalker is crying. On a hunch, Turtle finds a marble and places it directly in Darkstalker's path. When he sees it, he calls out for Clearsight. He apologizes for the spell he put on her and pleads for her to...
