Chapter 31 and Epilogue Summary

Everyone makes it back to the house, and the doctor comes out of Alexandra's room with bad news. He says that he cannot do anything to save her, and that she is beyond help. Jordan sits with her, praying that she won't die. He confesses his love to her, tells her that he has started noticing the flowers and learning how to live life and feel real emotions. Jordan tells Alexandra that if she dies, he will just return to being the wretch he was when they first met, and it will be all her fault. He tells her to think of his soul, that it is up to her to get better so she can save him from damnation. He also tells her that if she dies, he will marry Elizabeth Grangerfield.
