Chapter 13 Summary

Alexandra fell in and out of nightmares the entire night. She tells her maid that she will go to see the duchess ,who is also extremely ill from the bad news. She goes in to see her, the doctors advising her to cheer the duchess up and not to speak about Jordan. She tells the duchess that she should cheer up because Jordan would never want to see her so sad. She says that Jordan told her how amazing a woman his grandmother is, and how she would eventually rise to the occasion and be happy for his marriage to Alexandra.

One of the servants announces that the Duke of Hawthorne has arrived, and everyone jumps up in excitement, only to see that it isn't Jordan, but rather Tony, who is now the new duke. Alexandra tells him that the duchess does not...
