Chapter 8 Summary

After the wedding and after the few guests had left, the new couple went to retire to their bed chambers to get ready for their trip to the Hawthorne estate. Half an hour later, the two embark on their journey to Hawthorne. After three hours of riding along in the carriage, they stop to stretch their legs. Alexandra notices a boy by the road with a litter of puppies. She falls in love with one of them, and Jordan agrees to let her have it. They get back in the carriage and continue their journey. Jordan stares at his new young wife. He tells himself he won't take her to bed, at least for another year when she is more mature. When they arrive at an Inn, Jordan tells Alexandra that she shouldn't worry about tonight, that he has no intention of sleeping...
