Chapter 14 Summary

Larry Crockett wakes up very late showing symptoms of having been bitten by a vampire. His wife is already a vampire and is hiding asleep for the day in the cellar. Their daughter Ruthie is missing, but Larry does not realize it as he thinks that she is at school. She is actually asleep in a freezer next to Dud Rogers.

The Crockett family is not the only new group of vampires in town. Loretta Starcher, Virgil Rathburn, and Weasel Craig are all missing, and Frank Boddin feels sick. Danny Glick turns Jack Griffen into a vampire, who then turns his brother Hal into a vampire. In addition, Susan's parents figure out that Susan is missing and report it to Homer McCaslin. When he comes to investigate, he finds her car on the side of the road. Susan and another vampire find him...
