Chapter 7 Summary

Ben gives his talk to the children in Matt's English class. That night, Ben goes to Matt's house for supper. After they have spaghetti, they go into the living room, where Matt asks Ben about the book that he is writing. They talk about the disappearances that happened when Hubert Marsten lived in the Marsten House and the odd things that have been happening since Straker came to town. As Ben leaves, they decide that on the following Friday they will take Susan with them and go to the Marsten House to meet Straker and check things out.

Thursday night, Matt goes to Dell's, where he joins Mike Ryerson. Mike complains that he has been sleepy and sick ever since Danny Glick's funeral. He says that he blacked out after the funeral and woke up the next morning wanting to get out of...
