Chapter 4 Summary

Ralphie and Danny Glick are supposed to be home by nine. At ten past nine, Marjorie Glick calls the Petrie house to find out why they are not home yet. The Petries tell the Glicks that the Glick boys have not been there. Danny Glick soon stumbles into the yard and collapses. He cannot remember what happened in the woods. He knows that something bad happened, but he does not remember what it was, and he does not know where his brother is. Ralphie's parents are worried, but Parkins Gillespie thinks that Ralphie probably just wandered off the path and he does not think that there is any sense in searching the woods yet. Instead, he and a few men ride along the street calling for Ralphie with bullhorns. The next morning, however, a massive search for Ralphie begins. The search lasts for...
