John Rolfe - This character went to Wharton to pursue an MBA. He had no understanding of investment banking, but landed a job at DLJ. He thought his life would be glamorous at DLJ but comes to realize that he hated investment banking.

Peter Troob - This character had previous experiences in investment banking before applying for a summer associate position. He managed to get a job at DLJ and graduated from Harvard business school. He had a girlfriend during his first year at DLJ.

William DeBenedetti - This character was nicknamed Bubbles by the DLJ associates and had moved to DLJ from Lehman, receiving a promotion from vice-president to managing director by doing so. He was rather unanimously hated by all associates because an associate could expect to be working seven days a week, at least sixteen hours a day, and be abused.
