Chapter 3 Summary

Rachel decides to introduce Dex, her good friend and great catch to Darcy. Darcy instantly believes Dex is perfectly suited for her ideal life. After their initial meeting and waiting a few days for his first phone call, Darcy ensures she and Dex quickly become a couple.

While Dex is similar to Rachel in his interests in scholarly and worldly issues, Darcy is interested in celebrity gossip and fashion. Their differences are evidenced one night when Darcy switches the channel during a documentary Dex is watching, explaining she is tired of poor people. Darcy admits she and Dex don't have much in common, but she believes he appreciates her honesty.
