Chapter 9 Summary

John tells Meg that Will isn't her type. Meg says she would never date Will because he likes to be the center of attention. John points out that Meg is describing herself. John asks what Meg's plans are after graduation. She says she has a scholarship to UAB. Meg thinks about how she had a few months off from working in the diner when she was 13. Meg tries to find out why John didn't go to college. She finds out he would study art if he did go to college. Meg also discovers John traveled Europe in between graduating from the police academy and when he could start working. John and Meg shake on a truce, but the handshake is a lot less formal and a lot touchier.
