Summary

Maia takes Simon into the woods to join the vampires. After she leaves, Raphael confronts Simon and announces that he plans to kill him because he can walk in daylight, and this could only be dangerous to his people. Simon shows him the Mark of Cain on his forehead and reminds Raphael that whoever kills someone with this mark will suffer horrible vengeance. Raphael refuses to kill Simon, and when he suggests that someone else do it, they all refuse as well.

Jace has been overpowered by Sebastian. Sebastian makes it clear he plans to kill Jace, but he is waiting for something. They talk, and Jace learns more about his and Sebastian’s childhoods.
