Summary

Jace and Clary follow the secret stairs down into the basement of the manor and are shocked to find an angel imprisoned in a magical circle. The angel is still alive, but clearly in a great deal of pain. The angel shows Clary and Jace a bunch of images telepathically. These images for Clary include images of Valentine as a young man, experimenting with demon and angel blood to create Shadowhunters with unique powers. The images also include the image of a rune Clary has never seen before. When the angel is done showing the images to Clary and Jace, Clary creates a rune to free the angel from its imprisonment. The angel then takes Jace’s seraph blade and kills itself.
