Summary

Alec walks Simon to the Gard where they are met by Consul Malachi Dieudonne. The consul takes Alec to Inquisitor Aldertree. After assuring Alec that Simon will be well cared for, the inquisitor takes Simon to a private room where he begins to interrogate him. The inquisitor wants to know how Simon can walk in daylight, but Simon refuses to tell him how he drank from Jace after Valentine cut his throat and drained him of blood. The inquisitor then accuses Simon of being a spy for Valentine. Simon is then taken to a cell especially made for him in the basement of the Gard. Simon burns his hand attempting to escape. A voice from the cell next to Simon’s tells him of the special precautions taken to hold a vampire.
