Summary

Simon remains trapped in his prison cell even though the Gard is now on fire. Clary, Jace, and Alec come to Simon’s window. Jace rips the bars out and pulls Simon to freedom. Before he will leave, Simon insists that they save his neighbor as well. The neighbor does not want to be rescued, however, and Jace has to climb into the cell to force him out. Alec and Jace are shocked when they realize Simon’s neighbor is their old tutor, Hodge Starkweather. Hodge begins to apologize to the boys and speaks to Jace about what happened when Valentine sent Jace to the Lightwoods. Hodge talks about the conspiracies of Valentine’s he was a part of.
