Prentisstown

Prentisstown was originally known as New Elizabeth town when the settlers first landed on the new planet. It was renamed after Mayor Prentiss staged a coup, convincing the men that the women were somehow at fault for not being infected by the Noise. The rest of the world outlawed Prentisstown, promising not to eliminate them as long as they stayed in the swamp. Over the years, Prentisstown grew and the men trained the boys to become a small army. Todd is the last boy in the town, the final piece of the army.

The start of the book takes place in Prentisstown. Todd spent his childhood there, but the reader only sees him there for a few moments. He returns to his farm, but is soon chased out by the Prentisstown army after they hear about the silence in the Noise.
