Summary

Chapter 4

Ben and Cillian start running about the house, packing different things for Todd. They go into their prayer room and pull up the boards, taking a backpack they have had prepared. Todd is surprised to see it has a journal in it, since all the books were supposed to have been destroyed. The sheriff, Davis Prentiss Jr., shows up demanding to see Todd. Cillian holds him off and even ends up attacking and disarming Davis.

While this is happening, Todd tries to get answers from Ben, who isn’t giving him any information, since there's no time. Once Davis is dealt with, Ben and Cillian tell Todd that he has to run off into the swamp for his own safety. What is evident is that both Ben and Cillian have been waiting and planning for this day to come all along. The...
