Summary

Chapter 32

Todd awakens five days later, resting in a bed. Viola explains that she was able to get the boat to a settlement known as Carbonel Downs. Dr. Snow has been treating Todd for the last five days, and Todd's finally gotten over his fever. Todd is still devastated over the loss of Manchee. He tries to convince the doctor that he and Viola need to leave because of the army. Dr. Snow insists that the town is well fortified and they know how to fight wars. Todd tries to argue, but Dr. Snow stubbornly resists. He leaves to go help his child, insisting that Todd at least stay long enough for the town elders to talk to him.
