Chapter 14 Summary

Inside the tent, Pick and Dunn find new aviator suits with their names on them. They will engage in mock combat with Colonel Porter and Captain O'Fallon, who flew in from Memphis. They go over the plan for the dogfight and then takeoff. During the maneuvers, Dunn landed at the auxiliary airfield. Pick lands beside him. Dunn walks over to a tree and urinates. He tells Pick that they will say officially that it was a precautionary landing because of a warning light.

After the activities with the cadets, Martha, an old friend of Pick's appears. Her father, the Admiral, wants to see Pick. Colonel Porter thanks Pick for making the day a success and Pick leaves with Martha. In the car, he finds out that she lied. Her parents don't know that Pick is there and think she is visiting a friend...
