Summary

Chapter 25

Stamp Paid came to see Paul D at the church. Stamp wanted to make sure things were alright between the two of them. Stamp told Paul D his story about changing his name from Joshua and about his wife and the master’s son. Stamp had something else to tell Paul D even though Paul D was growing angry with him. Stamp said he was there when Sethe killed her daughter. He said Sethe wanted to “out-hurt the hurter.” Stamp confirmed Sethe’s love for her children. Instead of fearing Sethe, Paul D said he feared the girl staying at 124. Stamp let Paul D know that he had seen her there and wanted to know who she was and Paul D did not know the answer.
