Summary

Chapter 17

Stamp Paid and Paul D worked together at the slaughterhouse. Stamp showed Paul D the newspaper clipping with the picture of Sethe on it. Seeing it for the first time, Paul D refused to believe it was Sethe in the picture. He was sure the lips in the picture were not Sethe’s lips. Stamp wanted Paul D to know the story behind the picture. He read the article with the picture and still refused to believe it was Sethe in the picture.

Stamp planned to tell Paul D about Baby Suggs’ feeling that morning when she was in the garden. He knew she sensed something and they kept a watch on the road just in case.
