Summary

Chapter 23

Sethe and Beloved answer the questions they both long to know. Denver commits to protecting Beloved and warns her of the things to be careful of. A promise is made to not leave each other ever again. They are connected through the water, blood, and milk.

There are things Beloved wants to know about Sethe. She wants to know why Sethe went into the water and went near Beloved without smiling at her. Now that Beloved is at the house Sethe told her that she sees her smile. Beloved will hold on to Sethe this time.
