Summary

Chapter 11

Paul D found himself not sleeping in bed with Sethe; he slept in the rocking chair until feeling unsettled he moved into Baby Suggs’ bed. From there he went to the storage room and finally outside in the shed. Even though they were not sharing the same bed, Paul D and Sethe continued to have sex every day.

Paul D’s sleeping arrangements were something he did automatically. He would feel uneasy and go in search of another place. One night in the shed as he tried to settle in, someone walked in and without seeing who it was he asked what the person wanted. The answer came from Beloved; she told him she wanted him to touch her inside and say her name. Paul D told Beloved how good Sethe had been to her and that she was loved like a daughter. Beloved...
