Chapter 13

Paul D met Sethe after work one day to tell her what he had been doing with Beloved for the past weeks. Beloved went into the cold house at night for sex. He felt the need to tell Sethe what had happened but instead, he told her he wanted her to get pregnant. Paul D wasn’t sure where the idea came from but if it were to happen he thought it would help him break out of the spell he was caught in with Beloved.

Paul D and Sethe flirted as they walked home in the cold wind. When the snow started coming harder, Paul D lifted Sethe onto his back and ran. She slid down and told him he needed babies to play in the snow. They reached the point where Beloved meets Sethe every day. Beloved was there with no warm...
